TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS

Dr Bambit studied Medicine for six years at The University of Melbourne.

After her year as an intern in 1993, Dr Bambit began surgical training. During this period, she worked on surgical units in the Public Hospital System, including Plastic & Reconstructive, General, Orthopaedic, Vascular and Neurosurgery units.

She sat and passed her Part 1 RACS (Royal Australian College of Surgeons) basic examinations in 1994, during her 2^nd year as a surgical resident medical officer. This qualification is a prerequisite prior to embarking on further formal surgical training.

From 1994 to 1997 Dr Bambit worked as a resident and then registrar on the above surgical units, gaining training and experience in many aspects of surgery. Her last position in the Public Hospital System was as dedicated Plastic Surgery Registrar at Box Hill Hospital, Victoria.

Dr Bambit’s passion has always been Cosmetic Surgery. In 1998, she decided to explore all options regarding specific training in Cosmetic Surgery. She met with several colleagues from various surgical backgrounds in order to ask for their advice with regard to pursuing training in her desired field.

After much consideration Dr Bambit chose to undertake a mentorship with Dr Bruce Fox in 1999. Dr Fox is a highly respected doctor who has been performing Cosmetic Surgery procedures for more than 25 years and during that time has been at the forefront of introducing innovative Cosmetic Surgery procedures to Australia.

In 1999, Dr Bambit was accepted to carry out Cosmetic Surgery fellowship training with The Australian College of Cosmetic Surgery. The training prerequisites are very strict.

She moved from Melbourne to Sydney in order to commence her Cosmetic Surgery training in 2000. She spent a year in Sydney training with several Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeons.

In 2001, she spent a year in the United Kingdom training full time under respected Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeons.

Dr Bambit returned to Sydney in 2002 to complete her Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship.

Dr Bambit sat and passed her Cosmetic Surgery examinations in 2003 and was officially awarded her Fellowship in 2004.

In total, Dr Bambit spent six years at The University of Melbourne studying and training to become a doctor, followed by one year as an intern.

She spent six years in post-graduate Surgical Training between 1993 and 1998.

She then spent three years training specifically in Cosmetic Surgery, and has been practicing in Cosmetic Surgery since 2004.

Dr Bambit moved to the Sunshine Coast and opened her own practice, Lavish Cosmetic Surgery Clinic at the end of 2006.

Dr Bambit recommends that all patients should do their research before pursuing Cosmetic Surgery.

Patients should check not only the credentials of the doctor, but also the number of years of experience and training the doctor has had specifically in Cosmetic Surgery.

Dr Gary Liew - Consulting Surgeon

Dr Gary Liew is a fully trained and qualified Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon and has been in practice for more than 20 years. As well as practicing in Australia, he worked for two years in England and in general surgery in New Zealand for two years.

Dr Liew consults at the Epworth Eastern Medical Centre, a state of the art private hospital in Melbourne’s Box Hill, as well at Knox Private Hospital and the Rosebud SurgiCentre.

He also consults to the Lavish clinical team in Mooloolaba at the Sunshine Coast, treating Lavish clients at Caloundra Private Hospital.

A surgeon for 27 years, Gary worked in public health for more than 20 years while also running private clinic, then chose to specialise in plastic surgery. He was also a trainer and mentor for new surgeons for many years.

Whilst working in the public system Gary treated patients for a range of plastic surgery, including facial, trauma, soft tissue and general reconstruction, as well as hand surgery and micro-surgery reconstructions.

The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, The Australian Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and The Australian Hand Surgery Society.

Shae Strong - Division 1 Registered nurse

Shae is passionate about Cosmetic Nursing and has a thorough knowledge of treatments and procedures.

After a patient has had an initial consultation with Dr Bambit, Shae co-ordinates surgery from a clinical aspect. She will follow up on all test results, see patients pre-operatively and assist Dr Bambit in the provision of post-operative care.

Shae has been in the Cosmetic Medicine industry for over 4 years. Shae has also worked with several Cosmetic Practitioners and has thorough knowledge of all injectables and is trained in advanced skin treatments.

Carla Hanrahan - Paramedical Aesthetician 

With 10 years of experience Carla specializes in skin rejuvenation treatments including microdermabrasion, skin peels, oxygen treatments, IPL and laser treatments. Carla is passionate about skin care and will tailor a course of professional skin treatments and paramedical skin care products to have your skin looking and feeling its best. Carla has enjoyed working in different areas of the industry managing a beauty and wellness studio in North Sydney, working as head therapist and trainer in a large Medi Spa in Surfers Paradise and has now returned to Lavish having been the original clinic skin therapist four years ago.

When you meet Carla you can see she has a passion for skin care, with a beautiful touch and her caring personality she strives to get the best results for your skin. As well as holding a diploma in beauty therapy Carla has stayed abreast with all the new products and techniques in the industry and is continually attending conferences, workshops and training sessions. Carla’s post graduate skills including IPL, Laser Safety, microdermabrasion, skin peels and skin needling.

Carla has built a client base though dedication and attention to detail. So whether it skin rejuvenation treatments, a tailored home care routine or purely for relaxation come in to meet Carla and let her work her magic.

Susan Jarvis – Dermal Therapist, International Thermage trainer

Susan started her career in the industry working with a plastic surgeon twenty years ago doing pre and post operational care for Surgical facelifts. This inspired her to move to Canada in 2000 to pursue formal training with a world renowned medical technology company. 

Susan’s training includes: ND Yag, Diode, I.P.L and Thermage laser light systems.  

Susan’s passion in this expert field led her to specialize in this area completing her Thermage “Thermacool Skin  Tightening system” training in 2003, allowing her to fulfil her role as International Thermage Trainer.

Recognized now as one of Australia’s top Thermage clinicians, Susan continues to provide training in Australia and New Zealand. Susan proudly introduces Thermage to Lavish Cosmetic Surgery Clinic.  Susan performs Thermage treatments in Mooloolaba on a regular basis. Susan has a bright and bubbly personality which immediately makes you feel at ease in her presence.
